So far it´s been a great day for the blanket since it´s only a few steps short of being finally finished. I managed to get all the wildly standing out pieces of yarn out of the way, iron the top (so great to finally know how *that* is being officially called, lol) and sew on some decent edging. Let´s have a look: To my shame it´s not *all* even as the patchwork blankets I´ve seen on the web so far but hey, I´m a beginnerling with this technique, so it´s not too much of a shame. The ironing really makes a big difference! The finished top really screamed
IRON ME and I had to do it although I truly hate ironing *shudder*. I wasn´t too sure about the edging either, cutting a few strips of the fabric, sewing them to one long strip, cutting them apart and finally sew them aro

und the patchwork. It´s a weird technique in my eyes, all the sewing and cutting makes things more complicated than, say, knitting. Anyhow, it´s worth the toil: That´s the finished top, all ironed again, a bit wavy though because it´s slightly longer than it should be, no idea how *that* happened. I´ve already cut the linging and the fabric for the back PLUS started to sew them together all by hand because I don´t really trust the sewing machine when it comes to a sensitive task like this. I´m very much aware of the fact that this thing could be botched on the last few meters so I´d better take the extra time for the hand-sewing. Not included: pic of the fabric that´s going to be used for the back but coming with the next post because I HAVE.TO.SHOW.IT.
